Disclosed is a method for packaging a glass substrate, for an information recording medium, that does not newly cause adherence of foreign matter on the surface of the glass substrate during storage or transportation. The method comprises a hermetically sealing step of hermetically sealing an opening of a packaging member so that a support, which holds a glass substrate for an information recording medium, is hermetically sealed in a space containing a lower alcohol.
