METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING DISCONTINUOUS RECEPTION/TRANSMISSION

A method, a network element, an apparatus and a system for controlling discontinuous reception/transmission during a discontinuous reception/transmission on-period in communication between a transmitter and a receiver, are provided. The control is based on certain well-defined measurements including at least one of the following: the number of bits that are currently in the buffer of the transmitter, the currently supported transportblock set for the receiver and the average supported transportblock set for the receiver. The measurements are performed at the transmitter in each predefined time interval.
