<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for breeding a clubroot disease-resistant plant of a brassicaceous plant. <P>SOLUTION: It is found that a 1.1 kb transcription product of BrNIT2, not observed during non-infection of clubroot disease, is formed in a root of Brassica campestris L. infected in a cortical layer with the clubroot disease by isolating four kinds of iso-genes (BrNIT1-4) of nitrilase from the Brassica campestris L. Furthermore, the 1.1 kb transcription product is obtained by selective transcription from the midstream of the BrNIT2 gene. It is ascertained that a part of sequence from a second intron to a third exon of the BrNIT2 gene exhibits promotor activity. The clubroot disease-resistant plant which root-specifically expresses an antimicrobial substance during the formation of the clubroot can be produced by introducing the antimicrobial substance into a plant cell using the promoter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
