FIELD: chemistry. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of depositing wear-resistant coating on a cutting instrument and can be used in metal working. Vacuum-plasma multiple-coating is done. An under layer is deposited from a nitride or carbonitride compound of titanium, aluminium and iron with the following ratio of components, wt %: titanium 83.7-85.2, aluminium 13.0-14.2, iron 1.8-2.1; an intermediate layer from nitride or carbonitride compound of titanium, aluminium, molybdenum and iron with the following ratio of components, wt %: titanium 84.3-85.8, aluminium 8.3-9.4, molybdenum 4.7-4.9, iron 1.2-1.4; a top layer from nitride or carbonitride compound of titanium, aluminium and molybdenum with the following ratio of components, wt %: titanium 78.7-81.0, aluminium 12.0-14.0, molybdenum 7.0-7.3. The layers are deposited using three cathodes lying horizontally in the same plane. The first cathode is made from titanium and iron, the second from titanium and molybdenum and is placed opposite the first, and the third is made from titanium and aluminium and is placed in between. The under layer is deposited using the first and third cathodes, the intermediate layer using all three cathodes and the top layer using the second and third cathodes. ^ EFFECT: increased efficiency of cutting instrument. ^ 1 tbl |
