A hot water supply device using a heat pump and a control method are provided to quickly reach the target temperature by driving a compressor and an expanding unit under the optimum driving condition. A hot water supply device using a heat pump comprises a heat pump circuit(2), a water circulator(4), a water entrance temperature sensor(140) of a refrigerant heat exchanger(20), and a controller. The heat pump circuit comprises a compressor(6), the refrigerant heat exchanger, an expanding unit(30), and an evaporator(40). The water circulator circulates the water, exchanged with the refrigerant at the refrigerant heat exchanger, to the refrigerant heat exchanger after passing through a hot water supply pipe. The water entrance temperature sensor of the refrigerant heat exchanger detects the temperature of the water sent to the refrigerant heat exchanger from the hot water supply pipe. The controller controls at least one between the compressor and the expanding unit according to a sensing result of the water entrance temperature sensor of the refrigerant heat exchanger.
