PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time from a determination of an angle of view of imaging to imaging. SOLUTION: An electronic camera is disclosed which comprises: an imaging section which images a subject to produce data of an image; a digital zoom section for performing zoom processing with a designated zoom magnification; and a display section for displaying the image thereon. First, a first image is produced from digital zooming based on an imaged image and displayed. Optical zooming is performed thereafter in accordance with the accepted zoom magnification. When a release instruction is accepted in the middle of optical zooming, optical zooming is interrupted. At such a point of time, a second image is imaged, and digital zooming is applied to second image data. Then, an image is produced which corresponds to an angle of view of the first image and corresponds to the same size as the first image. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
