PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To specify an abnormality occurrence position to some extent when abnormality occurs in inter-node communication via a communication line, in relation to an abnormality detection system and an abnormality detection method of a ring-type communications network system. SOLUTION: In the ring-type communications network system, a master node transmits a down-side communication pulse by voltage variation showing an execution instruction of a self-diagnosis to a slave node via a power supply line different from a communication line and supplying power to the main node and the slave node. The slave node executes self-diagnosis, when receiving the down-side communication pulse transmitted from the main node via the power supply line, and returns an up-side communication pulse by voltage variation, showing its diagnosis result to the main node via the power supply line. The main node determines the normaly/abnormality related to the slave node, based on the up-side communication pulse returned from the slave node via the power supply line, after transmitting the down-side communication pulse.
