Carbon dioxide separation involves bringing in contact gas mixture or gas flow with carbon dioxide absorbing agent in aqueous solution or suspension. The carbon dioxide absorbing agent is separated partially by using phase separation in aqueous as well as non-aqueous phase, where the separation is accomplished by adding hydrophobic inert solvent having a boiling point of 60[deg] C. The separated carbon dioxide is transferred into aqueous phase, where the carbon dioxide absorbing agent has an amine. An independent claim is included for a device for separating carbon dioxide from a gas mixture or gas flow, particularly flue gas stream of power stations or synthesis gases.
