SURFACE LIGHT-EMITTING ILLUMINATING SYSTEM AND METHOD OF DRIVING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light-emitting illuminating system which is thin, and is kept in storage in a compact form to eliminate a need of significantly changing the shape of an existing place of installing the illuminating system.

SOLUTION: According to the surface light-emitting illuminating system, a surface light-emitting element is formed on a flexible substrate, which is bent or folded to form an emission area and a nonemission area by which emission distribution is adjusted. Light emission from an emission surface that is no longer exposed is stopped to offer an energy-saving effect. An area folded on a rolled portion is turned into a nonemission area, which suppresses heat generation.
