PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a face image photographing method and apparatus for outputting excellent images again without calling back and photographing persons to be photographed again even if performing inferior image photographing. SOLUTION: The face image photographing method for photographing at least face images of the persons for the purpose of preparing identification photographs stuck on identifications, various licenses or the like includes: a step of being taken in as continuous images of a plurality of frames by photographing at least face images of the persons; a step of storing the continuous images of the plurality of the taken-in frames as backup images; a step of preserving and outputting the images of prescribed frames in the continuous images of the plurality of the stored frames to a preservation device of a filing device or the other preservation medium; a step of selecting the images of the prescribed frames suitable for output of the face images from the continuous images of the plurality of the stored frame; and a step of outputting the selected images.
