摘要 865,447. Tyre-moulding machines. McNEIL MACHINE & ENGINEERING CO. April 17, 1959 [Feb. 18, 1959], No. 13150/59. Class 87(2). A tyre is positioned in a diaphragm press by actuating a pneumatic piston 33 to expand the segments 26 of a chuck and cause the bead edges 45 to grip the upper bead of the tyre. The tyre is lowered by a hoist 43 over the extended diaphragm 20 until it rests on the lower bead ring 16 in the lower mould half 17. The upper bead ring 18 and the plate 22 are then lowered, and fluid under pressure supplied to the diaphragm. When the diaphragm is fully expanded, the segments 26 are retracted and the chuck withdrawn. A sleeve 62 rotates the upper bead ring and plate in position, Fig. 5, whilst the chuck is withdrawn. The press is then closed and the tyre finally shaped and cured. Specifications 652,367, 704,797, 759,546 and 786,347 are referred to.
