The safety roof stand comprises a lower ellipse unit (4) and an upper ellipse unit (3) which is arranged above a load carrier (7) for carrying a load (1). The upper ellipse unit lies in the lower ellipse unit. The upper ellipse unit is pivoted relative to the lower ellipse unit with a force of inertia acting from outwards. The lower ellipse unit is assigned to a lower damping bearing and the upper ellipse unit is assigned to an upper damping bearing for damping a movement of the ellipse unit.
