<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas diffusion electrode having high conductivity, high gas permeability, and high mechanical strength, and to provide a method of forming the same and an MEA equipped therewith. <P>SOLUTION: Carbon fibers 22 are joined to one another with a conductive polymer 24, and so the gas diffusion electrodes 18, 20 have sufficiently high conductivity. The conductive polymer 24 is covered with a thermosetting resin 26, and so they have sufficiently high mechanical strength. As a result, the conductivity and the strength are secured while being shared with the conductive polymer and the thermosetting resin without sacrificing gas permeability. Thus, the gas diffusion electrodes 18, 20 have high conductivity, high gas permeability, and high mechanical strength. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
