<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens barrel enhanced in adaptability for a camera body. <P>SOLUTION: The lens barrel includes: a diaphragm mechanism capable of adjusting the area of an aperture through which light passes; a control means that performs the drive control of the diaphragm means; and a receiving means that receives first information showing whether or not the camera body can control the diaphragm mechanism.
