A navigation device is provided with a camera (7) that picks up a video image in the front; a video image acquisition unit (8) that acquires the video image in the front picked up by the camera; an enlargement and reduction processing unit (16) that cuts out and enlarges or reduces a part of the video image acquired by the video image acquisition unit; a video image synthesis processing unit (14) that superimposes contents on the video image enlarged or reduced by the enlargement and reduction processing unit, wherein the contents include a chart, a character string, or an image to explain a guide subject and existing on the video image, and synthesizes them; and a display unit (10) that displays the video image synthesized by the video image synthesis processing unit.
