April 10, 1935, No. 11079. [Classes 12 (i) and 12 (iii)] The bearings, of, for example, the roller axles of spirally-guided gas-holders, are lubricated by means of a hollow boss b which is mounted on the axle c and dips into an oil chamber a. The boss is divided into a number of segmental chambers b<1> by radial partitions. As the axle rotates oil enters holes b<2> in the outer wall of the boss and is delivered to the bearing through holes b<3> in the inner wall of the boss. Axial grooves c<1> are formed in the axle. These grooves may increase in depth towards the ends of the bearing and communicate with oil return passages a<4>, a<5>.
|
