<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell capable of achieving both gas replacement to a fuel gas and improvement of fuel efficiency at a high degree upon starting the fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell includes a power generation body 34 being fixed with a membrane-electrode assembly 36, an anode gas passage 40, a separator 42 arranged to interpose the anode gas passage 40 between the separator 42 and the power generation body 34, a sealing member 62 interposed between the power generation body 34 and the separator 42 and sealing a part of an outer edge of the anode gas passage 40, a sealing member 50 interposed between the power generation body 34 and the separator 42 and sealing the periphery of the anode gas passage 40 by surrounding the anode gas passage 40, and a space section 64 formed between the power generation body 34 and the separator 42 by being spaced with the sealing member 62 and the sealing member 50. The sealing member 62 has an opening at a downstream side of a major flow of the fuel gas flowing the anode gas passage 40, and the anode gas passage 40 and the space section 64 are connected with each other through the opening. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
