PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic encoder for increasing a mounting area and a pattern wiring region of a printed board without providing a large hole in the printed board, and enhancing a strength of the board. SOLUTION: A positioning section for positioning a magnetoresistive element and a bias magnet is disposed so as to have a dimension smaller than the magnetoresistive element, and disposed in a region for a magnetoresistive element mounting region surrounded by electrode pads.
