PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a degree of freedom in apparatus operation in a facsimile communication system capable of proxy transmission of a transmission image from a facsimile machine 1 that becomes the transmission source of the transmission image, through a relay facsimile machine 300 that is connected to the same LAN 7 as the facsimile machine 1, to an opposite-side facsimile machine. SOLUTION: A relay facsimile status confirmation section 203 confirms a line use status of the relay facsimile machine 300 via the LAN 7 and on the basis of the line use status of the relay facsimile machine 300 confirmed by the relay facsimile status confirmation section 203, a transmission selection section 204 determines whether to execute proxy transmission of the transmission image to the opposite-side facsimile machine.
