<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct an image forming apparatus so that a locking state, which holds a handle body in a use position, is not easily released while in operation. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a bar-like handle body 13 which is held by guide components 11, 12 fixed on a side of apparatus body 1 and can be taken in and out between an use position extruded from the side of the apparatus body laterally and a housing position, and a stopper 16 which controls a movement in a housing direction of the handle body, engaging with a component 14 of the side of the apparatus body, and is located on the handle body between a lock position and a release position movably forward and reward and is always applied a force to the lock position by a spring 15.
