[Class 65 (ii)] A friction hinge comprises a disc 1 adapted to be fixed to a window and formed with an annular projection 3, a disc 2 adapted to be fixed to the frame and formed with a semi-circular flange 4 supporting the projection 3, and resilient means adapted to draw the discs together. A compression spring 6 acts between the disc 1 and a bolt 5 screwed into the disc 2 and provided with a handle 2. A friction plate 7 is interposed between the discs. In a modification the friction plate is dispensed with and the co-operating surfaces of the discs are lightly knurled. |
