Binding agent comprises flakes made from cellulosic sponge cloth material. An independent claim is included for the preparation of the binding agent, comprising (a) producing a molded body from cellulosic sponge cloth material according to a viscosity- or amine oxide-process, where a cellulosic raw mass containing a cellulosic solution, a pore former and optionally additives and reinforcing material, are formed and regenerated; (b) optionally post treating the molded body; and (c) mechanically grinding the molded body to flakes.
