A bar code scanner and a barcode read method for rapidly reading information obtained through a laser scan and an image scan are provided to improve the reading speed through scanning and decoding the barcode. A laser scanner(130) outputs first data through laser scan. An image scanner(140) outputs second data through the image scan. A processor(100) controls the operation of the laser scanner and operation of the image scanner. An interface(150) outputs scan start signal in response to the scan start request. A first processor(110) implements the laser scan in response to one signal among the scan start signal and image scan. If the laser scan is terminated, the first processor outputs laser scan termination signal.
