Disclosed is a use of suberoylanilide hydroxamic acid (SAHA) represented by the following structure or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or hydrate thereof, for preparation of an oral medicament for treatment of cancer in a patient, with the proviso that non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, leukaemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, and cancers with leukocyte infiltration are excluded, and wherein the SAHA or the pharmaceutically acceptable salt or hydrate thereof is orally administered as a single therapeutically effective dose of up to 400 mg daily.
