The sensor (2) has a permanent magnet fixed to a pivoting element (4), and a shield frame (10) with an interior surface arranged opposite to a side face of the permanent magnet. Magnetic field sensors e.g. hall-effect sensor, are arranged between the frame and the magnet. The magnet and the frame have conformed geometric shape so that a distance between the side face of the magnet and the interior face of the frame is varied based on a rotation angle (theta) of the pivoting element.
