PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To relieve a burden of a process operator or a service person to a specific operation of an abnormal cause regarding output voltage of a thermistor provided in a fixing unit. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus, with which the fixing unit having a heating roller with a built-in heater, and the thermistor which detects temperature of the heating roller is attachably/detachably provided via a connector, includes: a storage means; and a control means for storing sampling data obtained by sampling output voltage of the thermistor at predetermined time intervals in the storage means, wherein the control means reads, when it is determined that difference between a this-time value and a last-time value of the sampling data becomes equal to or more than a predetermined threshold, sampling data within predetermined time after determination from the storage means, and estimates the abnormal cause regarding the output voltage of the thermistor based on a variation pattern of the sampling data within the predetermined time.
