PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and structure for reinforcing a bridge, which can surely and easily reinforce the existing bridge. SOLUTION: A lengthwise reinforcement location W of a girder member 2 inferior in aseismatic performance is identified; a stiffening plate 4 sufficiently greater in length than the reinforcement location W is applied to the girder member 2 in identified reinforcement location W in such a manner as to cover the girder member along the reinforcement location; and both ends thereof are fastened to the beam members 2 on both the sides of the reinforcement location W, respectively.
