<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection display device which hardly causes degradation in an optical element due to optical energy and thermal energy. <P>SOLUTION: The projection display device includes: a light source 2; and a first lens array 5, a first color separation means 6, second lens arrays 8b, 8y and polarization conversion means 9b, 9y which are arranged on an optical path of luminous flux emitted from the light source 2 in the order. Further, the projection display device includes: a second color separation means 14 which is arranged on an optical path of second polarized luminous flux and performs color separation of the second polarized luminous flux into third polarized luminous flux and fourth polarized luminous flux; and three liquid crystal display elements 12r, 12g, 12b which are respectively arranged on optical paths of first, third and fourth polarized luminous flux, modulate the first, the third and the fourth polarized luminous flux on the basis of input image signals and emit the polarized luminous flux as modulated luminous flux. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
