PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a normal air flowmeter from being erroneously determined as abnormal due to an intake unbalance state, in an internal combustion engine for arranging the flowmeters in branched two intake pipes, respectively. SOLUTION: The upstream side of an intake passage of an engine 10 is branched off into the two intake pipes 11L and 11R, and the air flowmeters 13L and 13R are arranged in the respective intake pipes 11L and 11R, respectively. An abnormal diagnosis of the air flowmeters 13L and 13R is prohibited before its intake unbalance state is caused by predicting the occurrence of the intake unbalance state of becoming unbalance in an air flow rate flowing in the two intake pipes 11L and 11R based on at least one such as an engine operation state, a vehicle traveling state, wind information (the wind direction and a wind speed) provided from the outside by an information communication apparatus such as a navigation system mounted on a vehicle and a detection result of an obstacle detecting means (such as a laser sensor and a camera) for detecting an obstacle (such as a vehicle) existing in front of the vehicle.
