PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately determine a miss-fire of an engine even if resonance caused by the torsion of a dumper is generated. SOLUTION: The method includes stops for applying a band-pass filter to an engine speed Ne of the engine 22 to calculate a post-filter engine speed FNe (S440), setting a gain K and a phaseθfor adjustment corresponding to the engine speed Ne of the engine 22 (S450), and setting a resultant of the post-filter engine speed FNe by adjustment using the set gain K and phaseθto a resonance influence component Nde (CA) (S460). The method also includes steps for deriving a determination engine speed Nj (CA) by subtracting the resonance influence component Nde (CA) from the engine speed Ne (CA) of the engine 22, and determining a miss-fire of the engine 22 based on the determination engine speed Nj (CA). As a result, even if the resonance caused by the torsion of the dumper 28 i generated, the miss-fire of the engine 22 can be accurately determined only by using the engine speed Ne of the engine 22.
