PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrier removal device and a carrier removal method for a liquid development electronic printing machine capable of obtaining a printed matter of higher quality by improving a fixing property of a toner with respect to a printed matter. SOLUTION: The carrier removal device and the carrier removal method for the liquid development electronic printing machine is composed by having a development unit carrying out development by transferring liquid toner with charged particulate toner dispersed in a liquid carrier on a photoreceptor formed with the electrostatic latent image, an intermediate transfer object 2 wherein the liquid toner transferred on the development unit is transferred on a circumferential face to form a liquid toner layer, and transferring the liquid toner with respect to the printed matter in a transfer position, a toner fixing means for fixing the toner on the printed matter transferred with the liquid toner, and a toner removal means 3 for removing excessive carriers in the circumferential face of the intermediate transfer object 2 by contacting an upper layer part of the liquid toner layer transferred on the circumferential face in an upstream side of the transfer position of the intermediate transfer object 2 and scraping off the upper layer part.
