PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide cold offset newsprint which has good color print quality, good print workability, and good operability, when cold offset-printed with a penetrating and drying ink in a multi-color high grade printing method. SOLUTION: Provided is the cold offset newsprint prepared by coating and drying a surface-treating agent containing a pigment and an adhesive as main components on base paper containing amorphous silica and/or amorphous silicate, wherein the newsprint is prepared by coating and drying a surface-treating agent comprising 10-300 pts.mass (converted into solid content) of starch as the adhesive, and 0.05-4.8 pts.mass of ketene dimer as a surface-sizing agent, based on 100 pts.mass of the pigment containing calcium carbonate as a main component, in a coating amount of 0.3-1.4 g/m<SP>2</SP>per one side.
