<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy regeneration apparatus for a vehicle, which can transmit an appropriate regenerative braking force corresponding to an increase or decrease of a laden weight to a vehicle and can regenerate energy with high efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: A motor controller determines whether or not a weight of a hybrid vehicle 1 is in excess of a predetermined one and, if it is determined that the weight of the hybrid vehicle 1 exceeds the predetermined one, the controller determines a second target electric-generating capacity P2 (or second target electric-generating capacity P4) based on a table B (or a table D).
