<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To significantly reduce the cost of a photovoltaic module in industrial production. <P>SOLUTION: In order to manufacture a photovoltaic module, a front electrode layer 3, a semiconductor layer 4 and a rear electrode layer 5 are machined in pattern using split lines 8 so that serially connected cells (C<SB>1</SB>, C<SB>2</SB>, ..., C<SB>n</SB>, C<SB>n+1</SB>) can be formed. The patterning of the front electrode layer and the semiconductor layer is executed using a laser emitting infrared ray.
