PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diamond dresser which sufficiently exerts sharpness intrinsic to a cleavage portion of monocrystal diamond. SOLUTION: The diamond dresser has a plurality of columnar monocrystal diamond tips 4 vertically fixed to a surface of a bond portion 5. The columnar monocrystal diamond tips 4 have protruded portions 6 protruded from a surface of the bond portion 5 such that their front end faces are flush with each other, and each front end face of the protrusion has the cleavage portion formed on a peripheral portion thereof. The protrusions 6 are fixed to the front surface in alignment such that the same crystal planes exerting strong cleavage properties of the columnar monocrystal diamond tips 4 are in parallel with a plane intersecting a traverse direction when the protrusions 6 make contact with a workpiece. Thus by virtue not only of a function of minute asperities formed on the cleavage portion 7 on the peripheral portion of the front end face of the protrusion 6, as a cutting edge, but also of uniform and continuous occurrence of cleavage by the protrusions 6 when the workpiece is dressed, the diamond dresser continuously exerts the constant sharpness.
