The invention relates to a device for mouthpiece exercises for learning to play a woodwind instrument. The device comprises a mouthpiece (1) of a woodwind instrument and a damper (2) which can be placed onto the mouthpiece (1) and has a tubular section (4) at its end facing the mouthpiece (1) and can be inserted in a sealing manner into the mouthpiece opening (3). The damper (2) has means for sound absorption in the interior (5).
