A digital image processing apparatus and a control method thereof having a motion custom white balance function are provided to make the setting of white balance more accurately in a photographing environment in which a subject exists. An auto exposure performing unit(220) controls automatically exposure conditions with auto exposure algorithm. An exposure correction unit(221) corrects exposure conditions under the controlled exposure conditions. By using a video signal generated according to the exposure conditions by a shutter input signal, a white balance setting unit(230) sets up white balance. The video signal is the video signal showing an image which is shaken while a user shakes a digital image processing apparatus.
