839,909. Moulding cement. BOYLAND, L. S. Feb. 12, 1959 [Jan. 6, 1958], No. 395/58. Class 87(2). A hand tool for moulding small parts of cylindrical or prismatic shape from plastic cement or like hardenable plastic mixtures comprises a hollow die 5 mounted on a handle 8, a piston 10 reciprocable in the die and normally retracted by means of a returning spring 13, a hand lever 16 pivoted to the handle 8 and extending to a position where both can be grasped by one hand, the lever 16 being operable to drive the piston forward against the action of the spring, and an anvil member 11 connected to the rear of and coaxial with the piston. The tool is driven into the cement by a hammer blow on the anvil member, thus compacting and compressing the cement in the die, then withdrawn and the moulding ejected by grasping the lever 16. Positioning devices used for locating metallic reinforcement in the moulding of concrete or artificial stone may be made with the tool, in particular centrally apertured spacing devices to be threaded upon reinforcement bars or rods to locate them in position when moulding reinforced concrete. In the latter case, the piston 10 is slidable on a central forwardly extending pin 14.
