<p>Manufacturing poly(aryletherketone) (I) involves: a) reacting alpha ,omega difluorinated monomer (M1), alpha ,omega dihydroxylated and/or alpha monofluorinated, omega monohydroxylated monomer; b) reacting with a salt (S1) of an alkali metal other than lithium to form poly(aryletherketone) (Ip) (having an intrinsic viscosity superior to 0.7) and a by-product of a fluoride salt (S2) of the alkali metal; d) forming (I) from (Ip) by adding alpha ,omega difluorinated compound (M1'), different from or identical to (M1), at least one salt (S3) able to react with the fluoride salt (S2) to form a fluoride salt (S4). Manufacturing a poly(aryletherketone) (P1) involves: a) forming a reaction medium by adding at least one alpha ,omega difluorinated monomer (M1), at least one alpha ,omega dihydroxylated monomer (M2) and/or at least one alpha monofluorinated, omega monohydroxylated monomer (M3), to a reactor; b) adding at least one salt (S1) of an alkali metal (A) other than lithium, to the reactor; c) making the monomers and the salt (S1) to react together to obtain a poly(aryletherketone) (P1*) comprising recurring units derived from the monomers (having an intrinsic viscosity eta (int) superior to 0.7, as measured in methane sulfonic at 30[deg] C according to ASTM D2857) and a by-product of a fluoride salt (S2) of the alkali metal (A) (where the salt (S2) has a solubility of >= 5.10 -> 7>mol/kg in acetone at 25[deg] C and at the completion of step (c), the ratio sum of n(M 1) and n(M 3 / 2) to the sum of n(M 2) and n(M 3 / 2) is 0.97-1.03); d) forming the poly(aryletherketone) (P1) from the poly(aryletherketone) (P1*) (where the poly(aryletherketone) (P1) has an intrinsic viscosity eta (int) of 0.8-1.2 eta (int)), by adding successively to the reactor at least one alpha ,omega difluorinated compound (M1'), different from or identical to (M1), at least one salt (S3) able to react with the fluoride salt (S2) to form a fluoride salt (S4) (where the salt (S3) has solubility of more than 5.10 -> 7>mol/kg in acetone at 25[deg] C and the fluoride salt (S4) has a solubility of at most 5.10 -> 7>mol/kg in acetone at 25[deg] C) and at least one alpha ,omega difluorinated compound (M1''), different from or identical to (M1) and (M1') (where, at the beginning of the addition of the salt (S3), the ratio of n(M 1) and n(M 3 / 2) to the sum of n(M 2) and n(M 3 / 2) is >= 1.03, at the completion of step (d), the ratio of the sum of n(M 1), n(M 1'), n(M 1'') and n(M 3 / 2) is >= 1.08); and e) recovering the poly(aryletherketone) (P1) from the reaction medium. n(M 1') : total number of moles of (M1') which has been added to the reactor after the completion of step c and until the beginning of the addition of the salt (S3); n(M 1'') : total number of moles of (M1'') which has been added to the reactor after the beginning of the addition of the salt (S3) and until the completion of step d; n(M 1) to n(M 3) : the total number of moles of (M 1),(M 2) and (M 3) which have been added to the reactor until the completion of step (c).</p> |
