<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply apparatus and method capable of minimizing power consumption and enhancing users' convenience by powering an apparatus body with operation of a remote controller. <P>SOLUTION: When switch control data transmitted from the remote controller (14) is received, a switch (17) is turned on for supply of electric power to control means (18).
