PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an indentation testing machine capable of acquiring a proper machine frame strain quantity and enabling more accurate measurements. SOLUTION: In the indentation testing machine 100 equipped with a load lever 3 equipped with an indenter 4 and a reference lever 7 equipped with a contactor 8, which serves as the position reference of the indenter 4 which cooperates with the load lever 3, the first indentation depth quantity, corresponding to the displacement quantity of the indenter 4 corresponding to a sample surface reference measuring technique is measured, by making the load lever 3 turn from a state where the indenter 4 and the contactor 8 are brought into contact with the surface of a sample and the second indentation depth quantity, corresponding to the displacement quantity of the indenter 4 which corresponds to a machine frame reference measuring technique is measured, by making the load lever 3 turn from a state that an indenter reference part is detached to bring a reference lever into contact with a stopper. The machine frame strain quantity can be acquired, by subtracting the first indentation depth quantity from the second indentation depth quantity obtained by the measurement.
