PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hat-shaped steel sheet pile which can suppress the deformation of a steel sheet pile even if construction is performed a large number of times, and which is excellent not only in sectional performance but also in economic efficiency. SOLUTION: This hat-shaped steel sheet pile 1 is formed in such a shape as to have a hat-shaped cross section in which a pair of flange portions 12 are continuously provided at both the ends of a web portion 11, respectively, in which an arm portion 13 is continuously provided at the other end of the flange portion 12, and in which a joint portion 14 is provided at the leading end of the arm portion 13. Characteristically, relationships among the weak-axis-direction section stiffness (I) of each of the hat-shaped steel sheet piles 1, the weak-axis-direction section stiffness (Ij) of the one joint portion 14, and the plate thickness (tj) of the joint portion satisfy the relationship of Ij/I×tj<SP>3</SP>>0.0345%, when the width of the one hat-shaped steel sheet pile 1 is 700 mm or more.
