PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a fatty acid alkyl ester and/or glycerol which can be used for inhibiting the lowering of the activity of a solid catalyst used in the transesterification of fats and oils with an alcohol. SOLUTION: The method for producing the fatty acid alkyl ester and/or glycerol comprises a removal step of removing at least one selected from the group consisting of phosphorus, a phosphorus compound, calcium, and a calcium compound present in reaction raw materials composed of fats and oils and alcohols and a reaction step of reacting the reaction raw materials from which at least one selected from the group consisting of phosphorus, a phosphorus compound, calcium, and a calcium compound has been removed in the removal step in the presence of the solid catalyst.
