PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lock built in a stile which prevents design properties from being deteriorated by an operation portion exposed on an indoor side, even if a lock is mounted in a meeting stile formed in a narrow shape. SOLUTION: A lock unit 10 has a latching portion 13 mounted on a fixing base 12 so as to be turnable, the latching portion 13 of the lock unit 10 is equipped with an elongated piece 14 which is elongated to the indoor side, the lock unit 10 is inserted and fixed from an outdoor surface of the meeting stile 20; an operation unit 11 comprises a guide 16 which is mounted and fixed on the indoor surface of the meeting stile 20, and the operation portion 17 which is fixed to the elongated piece 14 so as to make the latching portion 13 freely operable from the indoor side and can freely move along the guide 16; and the operation portion 17 is provided with a linkage portion 30 linked to the elongated piece 14 of the latching portion 13 in a position which is shifted to one side in either rightward and leftward directions, and exposed on the indoor side in an almost central position in the horizontal direction of the meeting stile 20.
