PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a one-way clutch which is low in price, hardly causes the breakage of sprags, can obtain necessary torque when fixed, can reduce drag torque when rotating. SOLUTION: A one-way clutch is equipped with a plurality of the first and second sprags 30, 30A which are disposed in the circumferential direction between an outer race 20 and an inner race 10, a retainer which includes an inside retainer 11 and an outside retainer 23 which retain the first and second sprags 30, 30A and an annular spring 40 which urges the first and second sprags 30, 30A in the direction of engagement with the outer race 20 or the inner race 10. Collapsed amounts of three or more of the second sprags 30A are made larger than those of three or more of the other first sprags 30 when rotating among the first and second sprags 30, 30A, and at this time, sensing is carried out by only the second sprag 30A by levitating the first sprag 30 and the outer race can be engaged with the inner race by all of the first sprags 30 and the second sprags 30A at the time of stopping relative rotation.
