PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk device and a data look-ahead method for reducing a system load necessary for data access by shortening an apparent data access time. SOLUTION: A data readout instruction is extended so that a controller 100 not only reads data but also instructs the duplication of data to a cache memory 106 in an HDD 101. Also, the transfer of data in the HDD 101 is directly controlled by performing the setting of the term of validity of data in the cache memory 106, the notification of a time when any access from the controller is not generated at the minimum, and the destination of an interface to be used.
