PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly clean a returning roller by carrying a cleaning sheet, in a sheet carrying device provided with the returning roller returning double feeding document to a paper feeding port when detecting double feeding. SOLUTION: A controlling means is provided, which moves the returning roller 108 so as to abut on the cleaning sheet and certainly cleans the returning roller 108 by the cleaning sheet 100, in a cleaning mode carrying the cleaning sheet 100.
