<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dielectric ceramic having a high dielectric constant, in which the temperature variation rate of the relative dielectric constant is reduced, and also, hysteresis in field-dielectric polarization properties is reduced, and to provide a capacitor using the dielectric ceramic. <P>SOLUTION: The dielectric ceramic essentially consists of barium titanate and comprising magnesium, yttrium, manganese and ytterbium as crystal grains, and has the first crystal group composed of the crystal grains 1a having ytterbium concentration of ≤0.5 atom% and the second crystal group composed of the crystal grains 1b having ytterbium concentration of ≥1 atom%. The crystal grains composing the first crystal group further contain calcium, the average crystal grain size of the crystal grains 1a and the crystal grains 1b is 0.1 to 0.25 μm, and, provided that the area of the crystal grains composing the first crystal group is defined as a, and the area of the crystal grains composing the second crystal group is defined as b, a/(a+b) satisfies 0.1 to 0.4. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
