Use of an Adsorbent for the Removal of Liquid, Gaseous and/or Dissolved Constituents From a Process Stream

A method for removing liquid, gaseous and/or dissolved constituents from an aqueous stream includes contacting the aqueous stream with a porous material and then contacting the aqueous stream with an adsorbent material. The porous material includes pores having an average diameter of approximately 0.01 mum to approximately 50 mum and an extraction liquid immobilized within at least a portion of the pores.
