PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a noise while high resolution is maintained and to obtain an image of high quality in an imaging apparatus which composites and outputs an image signal obtained from a photodetector of different sensitivity. SOLUTION: A digital camera has: a plurality of photodetectors of high sensitivity which outputs a signal according to the amount of received light; and a CCD having a plurality of photodetectors of low sensitivity which outputs a signal according to the amount of the received light. Before the signal outputted from the photodetector of the high sensitivity and the signal outputted from the photodetector of the low sensitivity are synthesized by a synthesis processing unit 44, a first noise reduction processing unit 40 makes the noise reduction processing for reducing the noise of the signal outputted from the photodetector of the high sensitivity by using a predetermined parameter. A second noise reduction processing unit 42 makes the noise reduction processing for reducing the noise of the signal outputted from the photodetector of the low sensitivity, by using a predetermined parameter different from the parameter used in the first noise reduction processing unit 40.
